Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed (and survived) the holiday season. After your Christmas feasting is over, we invite you to renew your baptismal promises with Jesus, exercise your faith and reasoning skills with St. Thomas Aquinas, and practice squashing the sin from your life this new year. Our monthly boxes empower you to build a Catholic culture in your home and share our beautiful faith with your children. We are all on this journey to sainthood together!

Feast Day #2: St. Thomas Aquinas (January 28th)

St. Thomas Aquinas Art

St. Thomas is called the Universal Doctor of the Church for his amazing and important theological writings. One of the most important parts of his work focused on the gifts of reason and faith. Reason is the natural ability we have that enables us to know and to learn. Faith is the supernatural ability we have that helps us to know things that God has revealed to us. St. Thomas believed understanding faith and reason helped us to understand God and his gifts more clearly.

Thomistic Trivia: Faith and Reason

To celebrate St. Thomas’ great theological works, you will play Thomistic Trivia: Faith and Reason.

Catechesis Corner: Sin Squash Card Game

This month you’re going to squash some sin (literally)! For this game, gather around the table as a family and learn the 12 virtues included in your Sin Squash card game. Study the vices - these are the ones you want to squash out of your life! Detailed directions are included in your deck.

Monthly Staples:

Beautiful Words: The Divine Praises

As Psalm 150:6 says: “Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!” It is good for us to praise the name of God and give him thanks for everything he has given us. This month we are going to do just that! We challenge you to learn the Divine Praises as a family. Learn one line and repeat it over and over, or learn them all and have a family Benediction.

Virtue Chat Table Topper: Studiousness

Each month we focus on a particular virtue as a family. Put this table topper wherever you eat meals together. Use it to guide daily conversation. Read the brief reflection and discuss what things immediately pop into your head. Invite each person at the table to share their insights. As a family, show generosity and gratitude to each person who shares. This is a beautiful way to unite our families and develop strong character.

Music Playlist

Each month includes a playlist full of beautiful music. We encourage you to play the music in the car, at home during the day, during bath time, while cleaning--basically in the background of your normal everyday life
